Iran Attacks Air Bases

Late last night, Iran launched some 15 ballistic missiles against two air bases used by U.S. forces in Iraq.  One hit a base in northern Iraq near Erbil, east of Mosul.  Ten of the missiles targetted the AIN Al Assad Air Base northwest of Baghdad.  There, some 1,500 U.S. troops are stationed on the sprawling base, covering some 25 square miles.  Four of the Iranian missiles fired failed to reach Iraq. President Trump tweeted on Twitter that, "All is well", as there have been no reports of any damage nor injuries. Iran issued a tweet stating that this attack was the "conclusion" of their response to the death of Quds Force commander, General Qassem Soleimani.  He was killed in a drone strike which took out Soleimani and several other known Iranian and Iraqi leaders responsible for last week's assault on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad.

Iran has long been the leading exporter of terrorism for the past 40 years.  Just in the past year, Iran has stepped up its proxy wars against The West with attacks against Saudi Arabia and shipping in the Gulf of Omar.  The latest round of attacks began abouttwo weeks ago with rocket attacks by the Iranian-backed Iraqi militia unit known as the PMF.  After we responded with a series of airstrikes on PMF locations, the group led an assault on the U.S.embassy in Baghdad.  The outer wall was breached and a reception building was set on fire and vandalized.  The incident concluded with no casualties on either side.  General Soleimani was then attacked with a Hellfire missile launched by a U.S. Predator drone after he arrived at a Baghdad airfield along with a PMF commander.

Since then, many of our allies have been busy pulling their forces and people out of Iraq.  Many were relocated to Kuwait, where some 3,000 U.S. troops are stationed.  Western airlines and companies have been pulling out of Iran amid the conflict.  Meanwhile, American media and Democrat politicians have been playing politics, criticizing President Trump over the killing of Somleimani.  The new issue of Time magazine, for example, has an article for how parents should tell their children about the death of Soleimani.  He has been painted by many in our media has some heroic figure, even as some sexual celebrity.  One news article spoke highly of Soleimani and his "salt and pepper eyebrows", as if he was a man to admire as handsome and desirable.

Democrats and The Media seem to be ignoring the reality that Soleimani was designated as a terrorist in 2005 by both us and the United Nations.  Likewise by the European Union later.  Soleimani was responsible for arming Iraqi militants with "Eplosive Force Penetrator" technology, making their Improvised Explosive Devices more deadly against U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq.  More than 600 U.S. troops were killed by such devices, and thousands were wounded, many maimed seriously.  Soleimani supported terrorist attacks killing thousands throughout the Middle East and Africa since becoming leader of the Quds force in 1998.  During the recent protests in Iran, the Quds force killed between 1,000 to 1,500 Iranians and arrested over7,000 Iranians,  Many being beaten and tortured by their own government.

There is no doubt that Iran is a bad actor in the world.  The treatment of Iranian women is apalling as is the blatant murder of homosexuals,  Most are stoned to death in Iran whilesome are killed by tossing them off of building rooftops. Yet, if you listen to how Democrats, the Media and many American Liberals talk, Iran is some sort of victim of President Trump.  Most, if not all of these sympathizers would find theselves killed or tortured if they lived in Iran.  These apologests are fools, or 'useful idiots'.  President Trump will address the United States at 11am Eastern on the latest missile attacks.  Many expect either a measured response or a diplomatic pause.
